Back bigger and better for the 2017 season!

The Brighton Tri Club Championships Series 2017 is live and this year it's going to be bigger, better & more competitive than ever!  If you're wondering which races to focus on, looking to get your mojo back or need some extra motivation, get ready to pull on the blue and gold and start excited for the new race season.

The Club Championship Series provides a platform for you, the members, to battle it out across the Summer, offering motivation, encouragement, focus and camaraderie across some of the best loved and iconic races in the South-East, finishing with our Club Champions being crowned at the season's end.

There are even more titles to be won this year across the gender, age & discipline categories, all of which will receive a commemorative trophy at our awards ceremony. In addition, the overall Male and Female winners of the Club Super-Series Championship will have their names engraved on the highly coveted Perpetual Shield for posterity.

The Championships

The Super-Series is the main Club Championship, from which the overall Club Champions will be found. 1 of the possible 6 races must be completed to be eligible for the champs. If an athlete competes in more than three events the best three results will count.

Super-Series Races:

Steyning, 30 April - Standard: 800m swim, 36k bike, 8k run
Arundel Castle, 16th July - Standard: 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run
Worthing, 2nd July - Standard: 1500m swim, 41k bike, 10k run
Owler, 23rd July - Standard: 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run
Bewl, 6th August - Standard: 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run
Brighton & Hove, 17th September - Standard: 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run

2017 sees the introduction of the Sprint-Series Championship. 1 of the possible 7 races must be completed to be eligible for the champs. If an athlete competes in more than three events the best three results will count.

Sprint-Series Races:

Steyning, 30 April - Sprint: 400m swim, 20k bike, 5k run
East Grinstead, 14 May - Sprint: 400m swim, 26k bike, 5k run
Eastbourne, 3rd June - Sprint: 600m sea swim, 25k bike, 5.5k run
Mid-Sussex, 11th June - Sprint: 400m swim, 25k bike, 5k run
Falmer, 9th July - Sprint: 400m swim, 28k bike, 5.1k run
Bewl, 6th August - Sprint: 750m lake swim, 20k bike, 5k run
Brighton & Hove, 17th September - Sprint: 750m sea swim, 20k bike, 5k run (draft legal)

Triathletes in their 1st season must register their interest to compete for the Novice Cup by completing the novice cup declaration form. The Novice Cup consists of 2 events selected for their fun and friendly reputation. Rules, points & more information can be found on the novice cup discussion on the forum.

Novice Cup Races:

Steyning Sprint,30 April - 400m swim, 20k bike, 5k run
Ringmer Super Sprint, 20th August - 250m swim, 12k bike, 3k run

In 2017 our men’s and women’s Long Course titles can be won at any event that covers the full distance. 3.8m swim, 140.6m bike & 26.2m run, such as:
- Ironman branded 140.6 Worldwide
- Outlaw Nottingham
- Challenge full distance Worldwide

Mountain Goat Challenge

New for 2017 is the Mountain Goat Challenge, a cycling specific hill climbing challenge you can take on throughout the year. We will award the fastest male and female for the lowest accumulated times across some of Sussex's hills.

The rules:

Lowest climbing time accumulation for Bo Peep, Firle Beacon, Kidds Hill, Ditchling Beacon & Steyning Borstel.  All hill climbs must be completed in order to qualify & times will be taken from Brighton Tri Club leaderboard, all you need to do is mash the pedals & climb. The lowest accumulated time wins.
