With just over a week to go and with the weather finally looking better, I'm sure you’re all raring to go and looking forward to getting down to the start line next weekend.

Before then, I'd just like to give you a run through of the check-in procedure for the day and the water safety instructions.

Please do take a moment to read through them carefully, and they will also be posted on our website this week. https://www.brightontri.org/palace2paddle

Triple Crown Swimmers.
You will need to check in to all three swims as per the above instructions. We will have a TC ambassador to help you during the day if you have any problems or questions. If you decide not to complete the three swims, please don’t wander off without letting us know. We’ll need to edit our start lists for you. Note that you are in a separate event. You will appear in the results of each of the individual swims but won’t be in the prizes (if you win any of the individual swims). You are racing over the total distance.

All swimmers (please keep reading I know it’s a lot, but it saves us a lot of questions on the day)
• Results will be posted on the Brighton Tri Club website as soon as possible following the event.
• Photographs of the swim will be uploaded to the Brighton Tri Club Facebook Page in the days following the event. We would encourage you to tag yourselves in the photos and share as you please.
• If you do not wish your photograph to be uploaded to social media, please do make us aware at check in.

Water Safety Instructions:
• We strongly recommend that novice swimmers wear a wetsuit.
• If you get into difficulties, roll onto your back and wave your arm in the air, shouting if able. The water safety team will assist you.
• No use of music devices/mp3 etc. is permitted during the swim.
• If you feel cold or unwell, it is your responsibility to seek assistance.
• Please make sure you are hydrated before the start.
• Emergency Evacuation: 3 short sharp whistles indicates an incident in the water. One long whistle indicates the abandonment of the event, all swimmers to exit the water and make your way on foot to the finish.
• If you decide to come to shore at any point during the swim, then you must walk immediately to the finish and make yourself known to the marshal team so that you are accounted for. Once you have left the water, you must not get back into the sea and attempt to continue the swim.
• During the duration of the event, there will be full, sea-based, safety cover provided by the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club. They are a voluntary organisation who are there for your safety and must be respected as such.
• Any decision of the water safety team is final.
• The cut-off times for completing the swims will be decided on the day and informed during the briefing. They are dependent on water/weather conditions. Swimmers still in the water after this time will be collected by the water safety team.
• Finally, stay relaxed, swim at your own pace and enjoy this fantastic event.
