Training Sessions

We currently run training sessions every day of the week. A summary of the Autumn 2018 training sessions are shown below. We have some exciting developments in the pipeline, keep an eye on the Club Weekly Newsletter and Members Facebook Page for any additional details of times, venues & last minute changes:

  • RUN: Monday evenings 6.15pm for about an hour, weekly run sessions on Hove Lawns. Meet at the Peace Statue.
  • POOL SWIM: Tuesday evenings 8pm to 9pm - a 60 minute coached swim session at Wadurs pool in Shoreham. Please see HERE for details of how to pay in advance.
  • RUN: Wednesday evenings 8pm to 9pm - weekly track sessions at Withdean Stadium.
  • POOL SWIM: Thursday evenings 8pm to 9pm - a 60 minute coached swim session at Wadurs pool in Shoreham. Please see HERE for details of how to pay in advance for swims and for days that the pool is unavailable
  • CHICS (CoacHed Indoor Cycling Sessions): Friday mornings from 2nd Nov 2018, 6.45 to 7.45pm. Please click HERE for details of how to pay in advance and PAYG registration.
  • BIKE/RUN BRICK: Saturday mornings 7.45 to 9.30am - a velodrome bike ride and optional brick session with Preston Park ParkRun
  • COWS (Coached Open Water Swims): restarting in the 2nd quarter of 2019.
  • SOCIAL RIDE: Sunday morning group rides - normally 2 groups (fast & casual) on pre-arranged routes leaving from Small Batch Coffee in Seven Dials at 8am sharp

60mins Hove Lawns Run     

WHEN: Monday from 6.15 for about 1 hour.
 Hove Lawns Map:
FORMAT: A lead run session comprising alternating 4-5k time trial runs, negative splits, hill reps and intervals on a 4 week rotation so sessions are predictable and fun

COST: Free for members.

60mins Track Running     

WHEN: Wednesday from 7.50 for an 8pm start
 Withdean Stadium MAP: (click link, then zoom in and click on session on right hand side for directions)
FORMAT: Coached track session focusing on technique, strength & pace, the perfect way to build running endurance and speed

COST: Block price £4/session, £5 PAYG.

60mins Pool Swim

WHEN: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7.45 for an 8pm start.  
WHERE: Wadurs Swimming Pool, Kingston Broadway, Shoreham-by-Sea, BN43 6TE.  Details for the pool can be found here MAP: 
FORMAT: 60 minute session of technique drills and intervals focusing on Critical Swim Speed.  Please bring a water botle, a pull buoy and fins if you have them. Wadurs has a professional lifeguard in attendance for all swim sessions.

COST: £5 payable in cash on the door, unless you pay for a block in advance - see Swim Fees for more details.  

COWS - Coached Open Water Swim

Restarting during the 2nd quarter 2019

WHEN: Saturday 10.30am for an 11am start, duration 30-60mins. Note - these sessions are weather dependent.  Please check the Facebook for more updates.
WHERE: On the beach opposite the bandstand, at the lifeguard station (The Birdcage Bandstand Café Bistro). MAP:

Coached sessions
will have small groups of different abilities, led by a coach or experienced open water swimmer, Surf Life rescue will be on the water to provide safety cover. There will be a session plan which will focus on open water swimming techniques such as mass starts, drafting, sighting, turning round buoys, swimming in a pack, dealing with waves as well as swim fitness.

Non-coached sessions are informal groups of people getting in the sea to swim together.

COST: Free for members.

CHICS (CoacHed Indoor Cycling Sessions) training session

WHEN: Friday morning at 6.45am - 7.45am, we will restart the second Monday session in the Autumn.
WHERE:  Withdean Stadium in the MyRide Room. MAP: 
FORMAT: This is a coached session working on bike technique, building strength and firness using sophisticated bikes with built in power meters, there are 18 bikes available. You’ll find all the details HERE

COST: £5.00 PAYG payable on the door (pre-register required), session blocks are available, you’ll find all the details HERE.
Do Not Just Turn Up -
sorry but if you haven’t bought a block or booked a seat there won’t be a space for you.

Velodrome Brick session

WHEN: Saturdays from 7.45 to 9.30am (depending on whether or not you ParkRun). 
WHERE: Cycle track at the north east corner of Preston Park. MAP: 
FORMAT: This is a coached session working on bike handling skills and safety for beginners and intervals and speed work for more experienced riders on the cycle track. Helmets are compulsory. Please check the Coaching Comms section of the Club Forum for more details.

The second part of the session is the excellent (and free) 5k ParkRun - a perfect opportunity to prepare for races by 'running off the bike'.

Road & Off-Road Biking

WHEN: Sunday social rides and ad-hoc midweek rides
FORMAT: These are not coached sessions, more information on the Sunday morning social club rides can be found here.
Ad-hoc informal mid-week rides both on & off-road of various pace and distance are often arranged between club members. Please check the Club Forum and Bri Tri Facebook page for details.
