Club Offroad championships settled at Hole Park MTB Duathlon.

The first ever Brighton Tri Club championship event was held today, Sunday 23rd March 2014, at the inaugural Hole Park Mtb Duathlon, Kent and it was Dan McParland and Issi Myers who wrote themselves into the club record books.

Covering a challenging 10km run, 27km bike and 5km – all off-road - in what would be testing and changeable weather conditions, Dan McParland crossed the line in a time of 2:30:40 seconds to not only claim the club title but also come 2nd overall, narrowly finishing behind only Jon Heasman who himself is racing as an XTERRA professional this year.

Izzy Myers would take the women’s title with a time of 4:01:50 and finished caked in mud but smiling. The Hole Park Mtb Duathlon would also settle a pair of veterans awards which were earned by Kevin Hancock (2:59:43) and Sam Liddle (4:06:53). Also racing was Dave Liddle and Rich Campbell, with Mark Lewis and Jane Millar posting unfortunate DNS.

It was a tough days racing, with hailstorms, bike mechanicals, tough course layout and fierce competition, but it was a superb and friendly event organised by a top quality outfit in TriSpirt Events and one that comes highly recommended for anyone in the future.
